John Wycliffe: The Morning Star of the Reformation | Church History for Life

More than a century before Martin Luther, John Wycliffe (c. 1328–1384) was challenging the corruption of the medieval church and defending the supreme authority of Scripture. Often called the “Morning Star of the Reformation,” Wycliffe was an Oxford scholar, theologian, and reformer whose teachings helped prepare the way for the Protestant Reformation.

In this episode of Church History for Life, Kyle Kearbey and Tim Haupt explore Wycliffe’s life, ministry, and enduring legacy. We discuss his efforts to make the Bible accessible in English, his association with the Poor Priests, his rejection of transubstantiation, and his influence on the Lollards and later reformers such as Jan Hus.

What can Christians today learn from Wycliffe’s commitment to Scripture, faithful preaching, and the necessity of reforming the church according to God’s Word?
