Who were the Puritans?
The word is often misunderstood. For many, it brings to mind a people who were rigid, joyless, and overly strict. But the reality is far different.
The Puritans were men deeply committed to the Word of God, the purity of the church, and the transformation of the heart. They labored to see doctrine rightly understood, worship rightly ordered, and lives rightly lived before God.
In this video, we briefly consider who the Puritans were, what they were known for, and why they still matter today.
Their concerns are not distant from our own. We live in a time of doctrinal confusion, shallow preaching, and a diminished view of the Christian life. The Puritans call us back to Scripture, to seriousness about sin, to the centrality of Christ, and to true godliness.
